We strive to captivate our students with the learning process and make it extremely joyful for them. With this approach, each student gains the self-confidence that is necessary for spiritual growth and development. Gordon Dryden and Janett Vos in their world bestseller “Revolutions in Education” emphasize: “… building a student’s self-confidence is more important than the content of the courses taught.”

As you know, knowledge is quickly becoming obsolete, and therefore metasubject technologies have acquired particular relevance in order to cultivate another type of student’s consciousness that does not “get stuck” in the information limitations of one academic subject. This is due to the fact that the child immediately masters the content of the subject area and new activities. Meta-objects set new opportunities for working with the worldview of children, with their self-determination, with the acquisition of the meaning of life.

The use of innovative technologies and methods, the competent use of modern teaching aids is possible with a high level of professionalism of the team of teachers. To achieve this goal, careful work is carried out in selecting personnel and improving their skills in all areas of pedagogical activity.

Currently, 75 teaching staff serve in the “Turan Lyceum”school. Among them, there are 54 subject teachers, 4 psychological teachers, 10 educators, and 6 additional education teachers. 97.3 percent of teachers are with higher vocational education and 2.7 percent of teachers are with secondary pedagogical. 79.6 percent of teachers have the highest and first categories.

An important role in accompanying the educational process is played by two doctors (pediatrician and neurologist) and a speech therapist.

Two employees have a degree: S.K. Islamgulova, the doctor of pedagogical sciences, the principal of the school, and R.R. Kairbekova, the candidate of historical sciences, a history teacher.

The work of 17 teachers was marked by departmental awards and titles, such as: “Excellence in Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, “Honorary Education Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, a chest sign “Y. Altynsarin”, “For merits in the development of science of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, Medal “Teacher-Mentor” “, Master of Sport.

The rapidly changing world requires constant updating of the content of education, forms of methods and technologies of its organization. Therefore, increased attention is paid to the training and professional development of teaching staff. Over the past two years, each teacher has completed refresher courses, for example, on:

  • problems of updating the content of secondary education of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Federal Education Agency, National Center for Advanced Training “ORLEU” of Almaty);
  • planning and achieving meta-subject educational results by means of school subjects (Institute of Human Education, Moscow);
  • study of new approaches to learning in the context of updating the content of education (Educational and Methodological Center “TABYS”);
  • the development and conduct of a meta-subject lesson (“Eidos” Distance Education Center, Moscow);
  • innovations in the activities of teachers in the context of the modernization of education (“TABYS” Training Center);
  • development of potential, talents and leadership qualities (Family Institute of Kazakhstan and Central Asia), etc.

An important competitive advantage of our school is its affiliation to Turan University, which allows us to use actively its scientific and pedagogical potential both for conducting classes for students and for the professional development of teachers. For example, Dana Ferber, a doctoral student of the Psychology department, an HR expert, a business coach, regularly conducts personal growth trainings on problems of constructive solutions to conflict situations, building effective communications, developing emotional intelligence, etc. School psychologists help her in conducting these trainings.

Other university teachers are also involved in staff training, sharing experience in organizing the educational process based on information and the latest educational technologies.

An important aspect in the education of children is the formation of vital competences in them, such skills as finding and working with information, solving problems, communicating and working in a team, etc. Educating the entrepreneurial spirit and striving for improvements are the most urgent tasks of our school. A.S Beresneva came to help us, a senior teacher, the head of the “Enactus Turan” team, the curator of the business incubator of Turan University, who not only conducted the Social Business Model Canvas training session in November 2018 (“The outline of the social business model”), but also provides consulting support for this area.

Such cooperation expands the range of possibilities, but does not hinder the realization of the innovative potential of the school itself.

Такое сотрудничество расширяет спектр возможностей, но не препятствует реализации инновационного потенциала самой школы.

The pedagogical team actively and consciously studies advanced educational experience as well as the international.

For two years, “Turan Lyceum“ school  collaborated with the Scientific School  of A.V. Khutorskoy and took place as a certified partner of the Institute of Human Education (Moscow, Russia), implementing the project “Meta-subject approach in education” and the program “Heuristic Class”. This allowed teachers to use in their work copyright technologies of metasubject and heuristic learning, forms and methods of conducting heuristic lessons, methods of compiling and applying heuristic tasks. Active participants here are: N.М. Subbotina (maths teacher), A. Zh. Zheniskisy (history teacher), O.Yu. Akisheva (biology teacher), S.M. Klikich (geography teacher), L.N. Urazova (physical education teacher), O.V. Gadaeva (primary school teacher), A.S. Altynbekova (teacher of the Kazakh language and literature), etc.

We continue to work on the development and implementation of meta-subject technologies: public lessons and scientific and methodological seminars are held, where experimental teachers share their experience. In order to establish the professional competence of teachers in the context of the introduction of new educational standards, in November 2018 there was a scientific and methodological seminar “Meta-subject approach to the structure of the lesson in the context of the updated content of education”.

The experience of  “Turan Lyceum“ school  on this issue is unique for Kazakhstan, and therefore the achievements of our teachers are in demand not only in their teaching staff, but also at the city level. For example, on December 14, 2018, at the suggestion of the City Scientific and Methodological Center for Education in the Education Department of Almaty, a city science and technology seminar was held for Kazakh teachers of the Kazakh language “Kazak tilі men odebieti sabakynda “Ruhani zhangyru” kundylyktaryn metapandik okytu arkyly zhuzege asyru”. City seminars are held not only for city teachers, but also for school principals on good governance issues.

Teaching others, we improve our pedagogical skills, following the instructions of Sri Chinmoy: “Yesterday I was smart, I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, and therefore I am changing myself. ”

Schoolteachers annually take part in professional contests at various levels.  In December 2018, four teachers became winners and three laureates of the pedagogical skills competition within the framework of the International Online Internet Forum of Teachers “Innovative ways of modern education development” held by the Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Education based on Volgograd State University.

Highly professional is not only the pedagogical part of a large team of the school, but also specialists from the IT department and information and library resources, as well as support staff (commandant, security guards, gardener, janitors) who are in charge of the economic management of the university. Through their work, they make a great contribution to ensuring the conditions of safety and comfort for our students.
