WE GET ACQUAINTED WITH THE WORLD OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE THROUGH THE CULTURAL HERITAGE OF THE ENGLISH COUNTRIES!
The decade of the English language in our school this year was held under the motto “Get to know the world of the English language through the cultural heritage of English-speaking countries!” It began on January 21 with the “Day of Poetry”, namely, with the reciting competition in elementary school. Children with pleasure recited children’s poems, competing in expressiveness and artistry. The students of secondary and high school continued the next day. The heartfelt atmosphere of the competition immersed those present in the creative world of such authors as Lord Byron, William Wordsworth, William Blake, Robert Burns. ”Questions and Answers Days“ offered the children a quiz both in the individual competition through the interactive online game “Kahoot” and in the group one when two national teams from among the students of grades 5-8 competed.
The “Theater Day” was remembered by Bernard Shaw’s play “Pygmalion”. The second week of the decade began with the “Fairy Tale Day”, where an acting competition was held. Primary school students delighted the audience with costumed performances of famous fairy tales, and the next day, middle and high school students introduced the audience to fairy tales as well as fables and life stories. “Song Day” pleased with bright performances of children of different ages from pre-school to 9 classes. “Winner’s Day”, held on February 1, gathered the whole school at the closing ceremony of the Decade of English, which marked the merits and achievements of the children. The events of the decade left a vivid impression on both the participants and the guests, and we look forward to new meetings!
